Community Revitalization Through Urban Agriculture.
The Lower Ninth Ward Urban Farming Coalition is a partnership of local groups and individuals committed to food security and environmental responsibility through urban agriculature.
We are working to enable food justice through establishing a sustainable food system in the Lower Ninth Ward, a neighborhood in which there are no grocery stores and limited healthy food options.
We are gardeners, farmers, non-profits and dreamers who want to grow fruits and vegetables grown in the lower ninth ward. We help each other out, and try to get our hands dirty as much as possible. There are several projects that coalition members are working on, including The Backyard Gardener's Network, The School at Blair Grocery Micro Farm and Youth Stewardship Program, Common Ground Relief Urban Agriculture Projects, and the Villere Urban Farm.
